We’ve had some great brands and retailers show their support for McLaren Bike Park over the years, and we’re thrilled to welcome even more supporters with the GRAND OPENING this Saturday. Below, you’ll find a guide to all the partner organizations who’ll be attending the Grand Opening on October 21st, what they’re bringing, and some of the awesome raffle items that have been donated. Santa Cruz Bicycles

Santa Cruz Bicycles was founded in 1993 in a space the size of a single car garage in the Seabright Cannery, in Santa Cruz California. Our first bike, the Tazmon, was a single pivot dual suspension bike that rattled established sensibilities and helped define our then- ethos of “simply advanced.” That bike was the cornerstone for a brand that was founded on the notion of doing things our own way in order to build the best. We have been rattling sensibilities ever since.

SF Bicycle Coalition

For over 45 years, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition has been transforming San Francisco streets and neighborhoods into more livable and safe places by promoting the bicycle for everyday transportation. We are one of the largest and most effective bicycle advocacy groups in the country. Through our day-to-day advocacy, education and working partnerships with City and community agencies, the SF Bicycle Coalition creates safer streets and more livable communities for all San Franciscans.

SF Composite Mountain Bike Team

We are a high school mountain biking team for students of San Francisco schools. Growing from 4 riders in 2012 to 20-25 this season, we keep biking fun and accessible for students from all backgrounds and ability levels. We are a member of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association.

Bringing: Information for how you or your kid can get involved in racing mountain bikes in SF.

SF Urban Riders

SF Urban Riders is an organization dedicated to creating more offroad cycling opportunities in San Francisco. Our goal is to build a city-wide network of trails where people of all ages and abilities can ride bikes for fun and as a way to experience the outdoors in an urban environment.

Bringing: 20 bikes and coaches to support the learn-to-ride programming at the grand opening.

Wheel Kids

Wheel Kids is…an adventure and exploration destination for kids. We welcome children from 5 to 15 years of age. We’re dedicated to youth bicycling, hands-on learning, supportive mentoring, and lots of goofing off and being silly.

Y Bike

Do you remember that freedom and independence you felt the first time you rode a bike? The set of programs and initiatives now collectively known as “YBike” began in 2002 when a Presidio Y member began volunteering to teach kids how to ride bikes.

YBike offers a wide range of bike and traffic safety education programs, including: afterschool bike clubs, bicycle safety rodeos, PE programs, Safe Routes to School bicycle and pedestrian safety education classes, and free helmet giveaways at citywide events.

Bringing: Several riders from their current session to show off their skills.

Event Info:

McLaren Bike Opening Day is Saturday, October 21, 2017 starting at 10am! Join us!

We’ll have demo bikes and helmets, kids’ races, a pro pump-style competition, a food truck on location, free non-alcoholic beverages, and an honest-to-goodness ribbon-cutting ceremony. Or better yet, a ribbon-riding-through ceremony.
